This is a genuine ammonite
fossil from Morocco. Ammonites first appeared about 570 million years ago. Ammonite fossils are extinct sea
animals which had shells that were coiled in a flat spiral. Ammonite shells were divided into chambers. the animal lived in the chamber next to the opening. It had eyes and tenacles, they jet propelled through the water. Ammonites ranged in size from 1/2 inch to 6 feet.
Each genuine ammonite fossil comes in a clear plastic snap case so it can be taken out and examined. They are polished on both sides and are approx. 1 inch in diameter and 1/4 inch thick. Information about ammonites is on the back of the case. The case is 2 x 1.5 x 3/4 inches. These specimens will interest anyone who collect rocks, minerals, and fossils.
