The White-breasted Nuthatch is common in woodlands throughout North America, and can often be seen hitching along tree trunks or hanging upside down. It is such a good climber; it will even venture into hollow trees where it hops down the inside of the trunk. The nuthatch eats a variety of seeds, nuts and insects, and will visit birdfeeders stocked with seeds.
